My post has generated a somewhat lively discussion on some of the
merits of on-shore vs. off-shore printing, but, save for one reply from
a print broker dealing with a number of unnamed Chinese printers, I've
not received even one recommendation for a Korean/Asian printer. Am I
to assume that no one on this list has any working knowledge of an
Asian printer capable of Stochastic screening and a reputation for
excellence? I did receive a contact for a G7 consultant in Hong Kong
and perhaps that may bear fruit.
I have done business with two printers in Singapore capable of
excellent work. My last book, January this year, had arguably the best
printing I've ever had, and I've had printing done with 10 micron
Staccato in the US, Canada, and Singapore.
When it comes to trade books, printing on-shore is not really an
option, unless you come across a printer willing to do the job at cost
for whatever reason, or unless some entity is willing to subsidize the
book.
Thanks for thinking about the subject!
Cheers,
