Joseph,
The ISO Coated V2 profile is based on the Fogra 39 press run(s). The '39'
press runs were to update to CTP printing rather than the film to plate
workflow used in the earlier ISO Coated & profiles like Fogra 27.
I understand that even though '39' was a CTP run, there was still editing to
bring it closer to the Fogra 27 film colour space - personally, I could not
understand why it was not left as a natural CTP colour space.
Your ISO Coated (V1) files will print beautifully on a press and proofer
calibrated to ISO Coated V2. There is no need for a transformation (in my
opinion).
There is an interesting report I was involved with that looked at printing
F27 and F39 beta and other colour spaces on the one sheet. It is quite a
comprehensive report.
I assumed the report would become public property as I joined the project
through the Printing Across Borders forum. However the BPIF (British
Printing Industry Federation) were the hosts for the day and they have
buried it in a Member's only part of their web site. Even if you knew what
to look for, unless you are a member you would never know it exists.
The report is grandly titled "DA2HA3DK88_BPIF_test_day_pr3.pdf", I guess you
could email email@hidden and ask for the Printing Standards Test Day
Report if you are interested.
Best regards,
Dan Wilson
