If you're doing any amount of B&W, then the Z3100 is the right choice. If you're printing on matte papers you get four blacks (both matte and Photo K are used), unlike the Z2100 where you only get two. The other advantage of the Z3100 is the Gloss Enhancer option. It can be shut off if you don't want to apply it, and there is also an economy mode that only applies it to the inked area. There are some gloss differential issues on the Z2100 which are hard to accept.
The extended color gamut is nice, and really the 8-color Z2100 is no competition for the current Epson K3 engines. The 12-color model is the printer to compare to the 78/9800 output. Its pretty remarkable what Epson can do with those 8 colors.
Hope this is helpful. Its a solid printer and it can only get better! However, I think someone could make a fortune by designing third party paper spindles for these printers. The supplied ones are dreadful!!!

Does anyone has experience with both printers that you want to share? Is Z3100 much better? How do they compare?
Does 12 inks gives bigger gamut? More accurate color?
