Also, you want to make sure you export the data as CGATS with the spectral data range set to 0-100 instead of 0-1. Haven't a clue why that is the case because as far as I know the IDEALink software does't do anything with the spectral data but I could be wrong.
1/2 wrong... IDEALink does use the spectral data, to calculate XYZ. Then it uses XYZ-based density calcs, rather than Status T, etc. This is to ensure that ILC will give the same results for spectrally OR Lab supplied data.
And yes, beware of the format that ColorPort saves the data. Version 1.5 has different defaults (perhaps even different between Mac and Win) and saving in the wrong range will cause ILC to misinterpret the data. This has been fixed in a soon-to-be-released version 1.1 of ILC.
If you see very low chroma colors in the 'Analyze Color' pane (they are all clustered around neutral) then this is a sign of the problem. Resaving out of ColorPort should fix it, or wait for the release which will probably happen next week (after some internal testing)

The result to my eye is too dark overall and doesn't move the HR point enough for low Dmax printing. Personally, I wish the HR aimpoint was adjusted relative to the 100% CMY Dmax (possibly based on a linear L* approach). As of right now, it does SOME adjustment but not enough in my opinion.
The new release will also tune the gray balance function, increasing it somewhat in the darker colors (by default) and adding some more control to how the gray balancing feathers off as you reach higher ink percentages. This will probably address what you are talking about here... but I look forward to your feedback to see if it does.

Steve
