What about if you are going for a very slightly toned effect, rather than dead neutral? You would still want the benefits of high GCR, but would need to run a slight tone throughout the scale, no?
It seems like the game with this is always getting enough black throughout the whole range so that color cast surprises are minimized, while not getting "push-the-black" density surprises.
