Because the RI is coming from the profile's default RI. Weird but that's the way it is.

I don't think this is accurate, Roger. I believe the Color Convert
tool uses Relative Colorimetric all the time.

Not true, you can select the rendering intent in pdfColorConvert. You would
also use your device link profile as your source profile.

I wasn't referring to pdfColorConvert. I'm talking about the Convert Colors function in Acrobat. Sorry for the mix up.


What I didn't finish typing to Roger is this: if the function is picking up the RI from the profile - which profile is it referencing?
