I've heard good things about it, but it's an expensive device, isn't it?

For an automatic instrument, it´s quite reasonable.

And can you read emissive specimens with it?

There are 2 versions, reflective and reflective/transmissive

Also, I don't think it's supported at all by ProfileMaker or Monaco Profiler, if I'm not mistaken.

If the profiler can handle ISO-formatted data, where´s the problem? And the instrument comes with an (optional) profiler that´s at least as good as the 2 you mentioned ;-)
