For a serious-minded professional, it's *not* a fortune. The designer friend
mentioned by Don Dennis who doesn't want to "spend a fortune", on what
exactly does he base his fears? A minimum of research would quickly reveal
that these are wholly unfounded.
By the way, it is not advisable to use as one's principal monitor a laptop's
display, whose viewing angle uniformity is usually very poor. Another
problem is the relatively low luminance at which it operates, and its
usually rapid obsolescence. Connecting the laptop to a standalone display
would provide brighter, clearer, more stable, durable and reliable output,
relatively speaking.
