You mean metamerism being synomymous with pairs not matching whereas
inconsistency being synonymous with pairs not matching? I don't think that
this is the case.

I think there's either [one color sample at issue] or [one pair of color
sample at issue], but not multiples pairs of color samples.

Two samples that match under illuminant A but that may continue to match or
"fail" to match, all of a sudden, under illuminant B. Yes.

Yes. Here, I think we're interested in how this single print will behave
under a variety of light sources. This behavior can be predicted using the
color inconstancy index.
