You're right Marco, it's hard to swallow the Standard Observer. But what are
the alternatives, each person's eyeballs? It's going to be chaos, no one
will agree with no one anymore.
Let's just say that the CIE is well aware of the limitations of both
Standard Observers, as they stand, but, in spite of all the evil we could
say about them, they still do an amazing job of capturing most people color
vision.
By the way, if anyone wants a copy of CIE Publication 15.2 or any other CIE
publications, they are available through each country's CIE chapters. Each
of these know in turn who are the distributors. It took me a while to figure
out where to get them in Canada but I'm sure they'd be easier still to find
in the US.
