4th and final.

4. If you've sampled so many differing instruments, enough that you can come
here and tell us about the Spyder with some degree of authority, perhaps you
can tell us the number of each unit tested, how the tests were conducted and
with what reference grade device and if you'd be willing to supply the data
for others to examine.

We have good working relationships with TWO respected suppliers. Xrite and DataColor. No smoke, its a fact.
Its no secret the our favorite instrument is the DTP94, which is why we fought to maintain the line.
In 3 years i can give you one specific number, 4 returned units for misbehavior. Yes, 4(DTP94s).
Sequel, from the old days mind you, about 20%. Now the EyeOne Display2 is much better than the original, i think mainly due to much more rigid manufacturing quality standards.
EyeOne Display1s, lots of pink casts. EyeOne Display 2, less pink casts but still rather common.
We have had some Spyder2 issues of high red errors(always LCDs), but this seems to be mostly accounted for within a given serial numbered group from earlier production. I did have some concerns with the wide area of view of the Spyder2 with its grating over the filter. I was fearing the reason for the high errors was due to lower quality PVA panels and the major hue shifts some suffer with. Could this have been a factor for the large errors? That turned out to be false. It did turn out to be early QA regulation which we worked with DataColor to track down.
Im not hear to air others info.
As a whole, most of whats out there now works really well, absolutely scientific, no. Users dont want to pay for an EyeOne Monitor anymore so we are left making the best with whats available.

If anyone has a specific instrument question i would prefer to be contacted offlist.

thanks to all for your patience.
