John,
Many RIPs are compatible with DeviceLink profiles but users don’t
know or have been said to "turn off" this option!
Convert Sheetfed 340 seps to Web 260-280 seps… this is what an ICC
Devicelink can do!
There is simple ICC DeviceLink profiles = CMYK to CMYK conversion
like simple ICC profiles,
and there is "advanced" ICC DeviceLink profiles which can preserve
many original color characteristics like Black only, primary colors,
etc.
Applying ICC DeviceLinks profile in RIP requires "advanced" ICC
Devicelink profile.

So yes this is a nice article but my question to the list is....
Is there anyone out there using DVLs at the PLATE, what Rips are capable
Of handling this ?
Having the Ability to use DVLs on the fly in plating would be
Ideal for Gamut mapping as well as Ink Savings.
Id like to take a separation that was for Sheetfed printing 340 tac
And throw it at an uncoated Web at 260 or 280 tac.
Is there anything out there that can do this, I know for sure
Kodak's EVO can not.
