I know. But it's a fixed Epson dither (HTM) that is locking me out. I
can mess with the cyan dot-gain somewhat to neutralize some of the
gray, but that decreased my mid-tone cyan gamut. The setup is totally
linearized. It's just the actual HTM "driver" if you will that is
mapping cyan to the gray ramp. This is what the Epson dither does
because normally the K ink is brown. I'm using neutral K in the
printer because I'm normally printing with other dithers and want to
have it neutral.
The reason why I'm using the dither is it lets me print 2880 dpi on a
rag paper with good shadow gamut and no bleeding. Whatever Epson has
done with their dot over-lay lets me do it right. I'm using
StudioPrint. I've tried all other dithers and limits etc over the
years and nothing lets me get the shadow gamut and dMax that the old
Epson dither does at 2880. I have to limit too much to control
bleeding with other dithers at 2880. I'm printing with the 9600.
Anyway, the EG target might give the profiler enough information to
make a decision in the neutrals?
Right now I'm just tuning the neutrals in Profiler. Labor intensive to
say the least.
take care,
Walker
