Martin,
I just got a new MacBook Pro (late 2008 with glossy screen). I
calibrated the screen with an i1 Display2 and i1 Match software.
However, your problems raise a number of questions:
1. How did you get the Match software on your new MacBook? Did you
attempt to use software migration or install your extra applications
into the pre-installed OS and Apple apps?
Generally, when I get a new computer, or even just install a major
system update (Leopard, Tiger, etc) I start from scratch and re-
install the latest versions of my extra apps. This avoids carrying
over outdated apps or old corrupted settings, preferences, etc.
2. You have made a major update going from a 3-4 year old G4 laptop to
a new Intel MacBook. All software now needs to be designed for Intel,
or at least Universal (dual G4 and Intel). There are enough changes
from your several year old G4 laptop that assuming the old software
will work is probably not viable. For Match, I didn't even use my
older app disc, but just downloaded the latest version of Match (get a
link from VersionTracker).
3. My calibration of the new glossy screen (which I find very nice by
the way) went smoothly, but the version of Match I used is 6.3.2.
Good luck; let us know how it works with some current software. It
also is possible that there is another problem such as hardware or the
installed OSX, but I would expect the version of Match to be the
culprit. Before installing the current Match software, you may want
to uninstall the old Match preferences, etc (I don't recall if the
current Match installer gives the option of Uninstalling the old
before installing the new version).

Hi all
I'm really hoping someone can help, I'm sure this topic must have
cropped up
before but I can only find a reference to i1 Match 3.4 here...
I've just bought a MacBook Pro and am trying to calibrate the laptop
screen
and an external display using i1 Display2 amd i1 Match software. I
have been using this software and hardware combination for a year on
my old iBook G4 which runs OS X 10.4.11
Symptoms:
1) i1 Match crashes at same point, just at end of the calibration
process
and before saving the profile.
2) The software crashes whether running under the "Easy" or
"Advanced" options.
3) The software crashes whether an external keyboard, tablet, hard
drive and
screen are connected to the MBP or not.
4) The software crashes when calibrating either screen (external
screen is a
LaCie Photon20vision II - calibrated many times with same software and
hardware running on an iBook G4)
5) The Crash Reporter shows exactly the same error every time. I
have the
crash log saved an will post it if necessary and appropriate.
6) Software crashes when running under all user accounts, including
freshly
created account and accounts migrated from my iBook.
Any help will be really appreciated and as I said, I can supply the
Crash Log if necessary.
