It lets one *enter* xy values but I've never been able to measure xy values, at least with with an EyeOne Pro in EOM
(probably works fine with an i1display2).


Must be a limitation of your specific device as I can measure x-y- with i1match & i1Pro here.

I've always thought it odd that the "perform ambient light check" was for informative purposes only and couldn't be used to set the white point targets.

Ambient light and the target white point are defined separately within i1Match. Ambient light would be the incidental light that falls on your monitor or work area, often office lighting. ISO 3664 likes the ambient light rather dim. Unless this is the light that you view your hard copy proofs in, you wouldn't want this as your target white point.
