Correct Andy. I had it backwards...the i1's optical res is 10 nm and the sampling interval is 3.5 nm. Again, I agree that the i1 is not a device to provide unequivocal evidence of conformance to ISO 3664, but I still would argue that it has value to the end user.

don't confuse optical (bandpass) resolution and sampling resolution.
With a crappy optic you would smear a laser line really broad but you might sample this (bad) information with 1000 diode from 380 to 780 nm ....

	        The hardcopy happens to be that of the printing press. But granted, there
	        are empirical tweaks used by the monitor profilers to help improve the match
	        between the view booth/harcopy that probably go beyond calibrating to plain
	        D50. But, to the best of my knowledge, they don't necessarily use white
	        point deviations. I still have to digest Chris Edge article presented in
	        Portland's CIC.

	        My .02 canadian cents that are now worth less than your .02 us cents :(
