I am using a 60" Z6100ps (still testing, not in full production yet)
with Production House 7.1. Profiling is a little different (I've only
ever used Designjet 5500's) because of the new printer options and
vivera inks, but we're to the point that everything is looking good
and it might become our main printer shortly.
Not a huge fan of the onboard rip, but it works, and does a great job,
as does the onboard spectro. No options really to tweak your output
that I've noticed, but I've spent 95% of my time using PH 7.1 with
media manager, profile maker 5, and an i1 pro...so maybe someone can
prove me wrong on that one. From what I've gathered, it's a one click
solution to optimize a given media.
The built in i1 can be used with media manager if you set it up as a
device over TCP/IP. Then instead of reading patches yourself manually,
it'll do so automatically. After a swatch has printed and dried, if
you wait a few minutes, you click "read swatch" and it'll fill
everything in instantly. Pretty nice. I haven't had much luck building
icc's with it tho...but I could be doing something wrong. I still use
profile maker and the i1 manually for that step.
Any specific questions and I'd be glad to help if I can!

Hi,
We just picked up a couple of the HP Z6100 ps printers. I was
wondering if others may be using them and what their thoughts are in
regards to the on-board RIP?
Do production people like the RIP?
Is anyone using Onyx Postershop instead? This is our main RIP for
large output, can Onyx be used?
How do people like the built in Spectro for building profiles?
My business partner wanted to me fill in the blanks for him. I
searched the list but did not find anything.
Thank you all for you thoughts and input.
