One other application to include for taking note of profiles, is DxO optics
Pro
It has a mode for processing raw files that you can then use for creating a
profile that it can then subsequently use for other raw conversions.
I've not tried this on the latest version (V5) since the software doesn't
run on Macs yet and V4.5 doesn't support my new Canon 1Ds3 :-(
As to how useful this function is, is a moot point ;-)
For _my_ everyday commercial work, any potential benefits are minimal for
the hassle of creating and using the profiles. I don't do art reproduction
or product work with particularly sever colour reproduction issues.
The WB accuracy of the 1Ds3 seems appreciably better than my old 1Ds so even
rooms with lots of nasty energy saving light bulbs look better straight out
of the camera (this was one of the few times I'd played around with profiles
before)
bye for now
