Like Klaus said, the Photoshop Gamut Warning is really a Clipping
Warning. That's why it changes with Rendering Intent and BPC. This kind
of a warning is more useful than a pure gamut warning - e.g. when you
choose to print with Relative without BPC you can see what colors are
going to be clipped. Don't want those dark colors clipped? Well, turn on
BPC and the warning changes appropriately.

Here's a question I have... (not directed at Klaus)
What does rendering intent have to do with device gamut?
The intent that is, well, intended by the user has NOTHING to do with
either the colors in the original image OR the gamut of the output
device.
