I run a large format operation, so I run into this a lot. I would throw the
dart at US SheetfedCoated.icc. SWOP profiles have a Total Area coverage in
the 285% range, whereas sheetfedcoated is in the 340 range. Since inkjet
printers can have up to 400%, it is best to go higher. However, almost all
rips for large format have color management capabilities (it would be
difficult, in most cases, to bypass it) - I think you will get good results
from nearly any selection. I, personally, would prefer to receive RGB files
for wider gamut, but if your vendor says no, then don't cross him.
CMYK is CMYK is CMYK, just as a rose is a rose is rose (whether a white,
red, yellow, or pink rose)
