At the time we wanted to keep our options open (we didn't anticipate gamut issues outside of Photoshop, especially when working with a dual monitor set-up).

In an ideal world, I want to do a straight calibration, and have applications like Safari and Leaf (which isn't as big of a problem) react like photoshop, which recognizes each monitor's profile, and honors embedded profiles, when dragging images or the application from one monitor to another.

Just wondering why you use a wide-gamut monitor all the time (or at
least mainly) in sRGB mode?

Same here. Sounds a bit like buying a Ferrari and then using it only to go down to the grocery store and back home. Why the extra horsepower if you don't need it?
