X-Rite publishes inter-device agreement standards for our instruments,
but we do not have intra-device information for the reasons already
stated, that differences in device construction, lighting, and filters
can make any comparison like the proverbial apple-and-orange test.
With that being said, if you do want to compare measurements from two
devices, you will get the best results if the light source, aperture and
filtering are the same.
In the specific case of the i1iSis vs. the i1Pro - if measuring media
that does not contain optical brightners, or you are comparing
measurements that do not contain UV data (in other words you are using
UV Cut data), the correlation between these instruments should in fact
be quite good. Where you can see differences is when comparing non UV
Cut data from media that does contain optical brightners. The reason is
that the level of UV component in the light sources is not the same.
Because of this, the media being measured fluoresces differently under
the two light sources. When this happens the readings differ because the
colors being measured are in fact different.
If you want to contact X-Rite support you can reach us by creating a
case at www.xrite.com (click on the "My X-Rite" tab), sending us an
e-mail at email@hidden, or calling us at 888.826.3044, option 3.
We strive to respond to all cases within 24 hours. In Lorenzo's case,
some of our e-mail notifications were being routed incorrectly. Once we
saw his post we were able to identify and correct the problem. We do
apologize for the delayed response to Lorenzo and any other users who
may have been affected.
