Jim,
That's hard to say. If you open up the Monaco and ProfileMakerPro profiles
in a utility like Chromix ColorThink, you may get a hint as to why the
difference by turning to the curves dialog. The curves are calculated à la
Don Hutchison, from the XYZ data, since there are no way to infer StatusT
information for the purpose of calculating press curves without spectral
data. But at least, you'll get a feel for the difference.
Have you tried the same experiment with other profilers?
There are C3 and C5 profiles on the TGLC and Kodak web sites. Maybe worth
bringing those into your analysis as well.
BasICColor C3 and C5 profiles are not available for download anywhere,
unfortunately. I am told they are quite good.
