The Applied Color Theory in Photoshop Group is a Yahoo discussion group. I
think it's hosted by Sterling Ledet, but it's pretty much a forum for Dan
Margulis & his followers. (and I use that word advisedly ;-)
I'm sure you know this, but just in case...
Mr. Margulis is an accomplished practitioner/educator on color correction -
he comes out of a printing & prepress background. He presents himself, along
with his material, cleverly (sometimes brilliantly), with humor, but also
with lots of controversy. He seems to enjoy being provocative. For decades
now, he has been proclaiming that color management is a failed technology,
promoted by "calibrationists" who promise perfect color with no skill
required, etc.
Usually his attacks are filled with humorous barbs (he is very funny!), but
recently he posted a serious opinion piece on how the financial troubles of
the major color management companies (think X-Rite) represent a vindication
of his position. It was fascinating reading.
Some interesting ideas get posted on Applied Color Theory, along with
correction techniques that range from ingenious to bizarre. I find it
valuable, but you do have to ignore the anti-color management rants...
