Okay, let's get this straight: Dan takes a file containing 64k steps between 0% density and 100% density, throws away all but 256 of those steps, then jumps up and says "look! There's no difference at all between 8-bit and 16-bit files!"

Gee...maybe I should go out and "prove" a 72dpi file will print
just as cleanly as a 300dpi one...but if you send your test file to
me to prove I'm wrong, I reserve the right to downsample it to
72dpi before I print it.

I knew Dan had a high opinion of himself, but this is ridiculous.
