sRGB = "bad" isn't it?
Well, there are bad, good and "excellent" quality examples of sRGB images.
Can you imagine digital photography without sRGB?
Well...yes, I would love to have never heard of sRGB. You need to read up on the history of this "standard". In addition, most cameras that put sRGB in their EXIF tags were not even close to sRGB.
Will the ISO standard printing conditions get accepted or
will the "house-standards" prevail?
ICC color management cannot survive without standards.

I believe there is a market for both, printing to standards, and wide gamut, high density, and using more than CMYK inks.

ICC methods allow you to do both. It is possible for a printer to made a custom separation profile and provide it to the art creators.
