Steve,
What in Vista would would make it difficult to put it all together?
I'm a
Mac user and have never used Vista.
If you've got some old legacy RIP's running some older machines and
this little device here doing this function and that little device
there doing that function... tying it all together with Vista can be
a nightmare because there just may not be Vista drivers for those
older applications and machines and probably never will be. Just as a
small example, I have a client with an all PC shop who wanted to
upgrade one computer; I'm not a networking guy so I don't know all
the in's and out's, but he had a few designers using Signlab, and
Vista would not accept the configuration of how he had set up their
stations to interact with his. He spent two days on the phone trying
to resolve the issue, and finally gave up in frsutration, sent his
new machine back to Gateway and had a local guy build him a new XP
machine.
Evidently there's just a lot of stuff out there that Vista does not
and probably will never support. That's the feedback I'm getting from
a ton of guys with Windows networks who are scared to death of
getting new machines, let alone making a switchover from Mac. Again,
color management-wise there really is no difference. But right now I
just can't imagine wanting to do what they're suggesting.
Mike
