The Dell appears to share the same screen as the Cinema Display. The Cinema
is a typical LCD gamut, which offers good control and neutrality, though Apple
does not offer front panel adjustments for things that many other LCDs offer
(brightness, contrast, gains) only a backlight control. Consistancy could be
better, but its usable, and thats a compromise for size, to some degree.
The NEC is a rather different beast. It seems to have a thick layer of
plastic over the screen, with a space behind it. The one I worked with had a couple
of scrids of black stuff trapped in between, with no way to remove them; but
no deal pixels at least. The color gamut is wide, so things are punchy unless
custom profiled. The overall device is not as sleek as an Apple, but I suspect
you could get used to it, if industrial design is not your main issue. The NEC
has no tilt capabilities, and I found it necessary to raise it up on spacers
and shim it to a tilt before I was comfortable with it.
Both these displays profile quite well, actually.
I hope these quick, and not very official, observations may be of some use...
