Edmund,

Your problem list is a good start. I've experienced most of them.
I would recommend identifying the key problems before we discuss solutions.
What problems are top priority to address for Joe User? (Any key issue missing from the list?) It would help to focus on just three-four top problems initially.

Do your proposed solutions address those in a way that is PRACTICAL and INTUITIVE for Joe User? Or will Joe think our "fix" is just as complicated as the problem, and curse us forever (=status quo)?

Some concerns:
- It seems the proposed solutions will only verify that the same bits are coming out now as during verification. So this won't help if I have a new source profile, which means new source bits. Or I have a printer that recalibrates itself when I install new ink cartridges. Or I have a new printer or new supplies.

- I think the solution should allow for Joe User who has no calibration target, has no clue what a calibration target is, thinks RGB = Really good bananas, and has no historical data from previous good or bad prints.

The solution should work right out of the box. No previous measurements required. No tools required. And should not consume expensive paper or ink.

Come to think of it:
So far the proposed solutions are means to fix something that's broken. Instead, the ultimate goal should be to make sure it's not broken in the first place. Then, we're not dependent on Joe User trying to parse the trouble shooting pages he copied in black and white from a poorly translated 2018 edition of Ed's #1 bestseller "You too can achieve Perfect Color Management in 30 days, guaranteed "
After all, when I drive my car, I want my steering wheel to work all the time. I would not like it if my car manual has a section "In case your steering wheel ceases to operate, follow these instructions. Step 1: Carefully pull over to the side of the road"

And pls change the subject line :-)

Lars
