Warning, software plug ahead....

There's one piece of trending software that everyone should take a serious look at: SpotOn! (http://www.spotonpress.com).

Besides analyzing individual press runs and "pulls", there's some very good trending graphs available (go to the "Graphs" page to check them out). I'm proud to say I had a very small part in in the early implementation of this software, back when it was still just an Excel worksheet and a glimmer in the eye of friend and developer Bruce Bayne. Since then, he's added full database and search criteria capabilities and turned it into a serious application, not just a G7 "science project". Several of the graphs are designed specifically for the G7 method (NPDC graphs) but there are plenty of other graphs that could be used for other methods (TVI/ISO). As the product matures, it will be adaptable to most any printing process. Some have even used it for proof verification and trending.

Currently the software directly supports the Eye-One spectro but I know they have plans of supporting both the X-Rite Intellitrax and Techkon Spectro-Drive via CGATS import and any other device that can generate CGATS spectral data. The Intellitrax support was shown at Graph Expo this past week.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

...end of plug

:-)

Terry Wyse

"What does it do?
Calibrate Press Gamut to ISO12647
Assist press operators in calibrating their press to ISO12647 based print

Then there's IDEALink Curve software that's described as the following...
"IDEALink™ Curve is your link to simple G7™ implementation. Easily
calibrate and verify all your systems without the tedium and uncertainty of
manual curve drawing."
