We have them on every proof we generate and they are applied at the
rip. ( GMG in our case ) And yes they are a very useful tool in
evaluating your proofing process. It is basically a pass/ fail
procedure where you need to determine your tolerances and if the strip
falls outside of those.... you need to re-calibrate your proofing
system. there are several programs available ( X-rites QC color and
GMG's solutions come to mind ) That will monitor and store all your
measurements as well as generate a label to put on your proof to
verify its integrity.
