Hi Andrew.
I'll try not to take that personally <BG> .Although advertising
photography that involves product is relegated to the non art sector
of the industry , we do our best to raise it above the level of copy
work , even if the clients and their various advisers often try to
strangle any signs of creativity !
Sad as it may be , we have been known to resort to the use of a
spectro to measure the colour of a product , sometimes just in order
to prove a point .
It can get a bit messy when we have to do that with Baileys Irish
Cream.
Seriously though , when we do have to do our very best to express a
colour match of the product as close is possible on the printed
page , camera profiling becomes an attractive proposition. Whereas I
fully accept that this niche market is not necessarily a major part
of the industry , it is an additional one to copy photography .
Where do I get my pedant's award for this observation :-) .
atb,
Bob Marchant.
