That's not so. I don't like the way they are choosing technology

As I indicated, there are some very good camera-agnostic Raw
converters -Capture One and Raw Developer- which have implemented
already ICC profiles at the appropriate processing stages, and produce
extremely high quality rendered images.
The existence of these converters proves that the ICC-ignorant choices
made in Lightroom and ACR are not a necessity. As for ICC profiles,
it's pretty obvious that they need to be adapted and extended to
scene-referred imagery and this is being discussed. Standards evolve.
