With this in mind, and with all parties leaving aside accusations
of bias , corporate loyalty, corporate fear ,conspiracy theories ,
personal views on personality , SHOUTING , profile editing ( much
like spinning plates and not for the faint hearted when it comes to
striving for accuracy and not looks )
This is an important point - people who are not very experienced can
easily "screw up" a profile completely instead of improving on it.
This is an additional, substantial reason why in my review I sticked
to default values and did not take into account any potential
improvements by individual tweaking (that would also not be
reproducible).
, views on "looks " as opposed to accuracy etc etc ...has anybody
disproved , or attempting to disprove scientifically Uli's
observations above ? Just establishing that might move us on.
I think that's indeed the crucial point.
Now, I'm well aware of the language barrier issue, and I reflected
what I could do about that. As I wrote, I'm currently simply not in
the situation to translate the complete review into English, for a
number of reasons.
However, the heated debate that we currently have is only about a tiny
part of the review. It's only about camera profiling, and even there,
it's not about the main focus of the review - which combination of
profiling software, camera targets and target lighting produces the
best results -, but only about the question if custom built ICC
profiles can improve on default camera profiles in a proprietary
format, specifically Adobe profiles. This is a very small excerpt of
the review.
Therefore, I will try to provide an English documentation of what I
did with regard to this topic. Rather than translating the published
review, I will write a document that addresses the experts of this
list, i.e. on the one hand I won't explain any color management
terminology etc., on the other hand, I'll try to include all the data
you need to reproduce what I did.
My schedule is currently extremely tight. Therefore, I can only afford
a specific amount of time in preparing this. This means it will by no
means be perfect. I would appreciate if everybody who will read this
material will do this in the spirit of what Bob wrote:
Shouldn't we try to be working with each other rather than ranting
and sniping against each other ?
and will not use it instead to decipher my alleged biases and faults.
I will start a new thread called "Mac Life camera profile testing",
and as soon as the report and supplementary material is ready for
download, I will post it there.
*I will not react to and completely ignore any posting in this thread
that brings up personal issues again.*
I dearly hope this will help getting back to the facts again.
Bye
Uli
