Thank goodness the raw files don't have the baked, over-saturated, over-contrasty look of so many in-camera JPEGs. One of the key virtues of raw capture is to avoid this. People who complain about raw filies not looking like baked JPEGs are rather high up on the digital learning curve. Most people don't complain about accuracy because they wouldn't know what they're missing - it's really not possible to assess, except under very controlled conditions, which is not what a large fraction photography is all about. Faithful reproduction of hues for a product catalogue or an advertisement, or certain kinds of science, medicine and forensics is another matter, where accuracy counts. And the key issue of this thread is about accuracy, not looks.

But the main complaint from users of LightRoom and ACR is not that the
colors are not accurate enough, but that they don't look like they do in
jpgs straight from the camera - they don't have the camera makers 'look'.
That is why Adobe has added the new profiles that give you the equivalent of
all the camera makers 'looks' - to satisfy the consumers!
