How ive dealt with this issue here is to measure the control strip with the i1 as is and use the values as the master target (rather than say gracol or FOGRA data) simply to check for consistency. Verification to standard datasets would come from the isis itself. If you have an iterative rip, you could use the isis for calibration initially, but perform the final iterations with the i1. All subsequent calibration done with the isis, verification with the i1.
Both methods are inelegant, but can work just. Of course any 3rd party measuring your proof and you're back to square one. ;)
