I generally agree, and I managed to stay out of this thread until the
end. However, measurements are a critical part of any science,
including color science, and they're performed by essentially
everyone on this List. A gross misrepresentation of the meaning of
"measurement" does a disservice to those here without the training to
understand what measurements really represent.
For anyone who still feels that:
"the measurement itself is just a number (or set of numbers) - by
itself, it cannot be wrong" see Wikipedia on Measurement: (http://

The fact that measurements are just estimates of true values is an
important, fundamental concept to understand. It can (and should)
affect the interpretation of nearly everything we do with data.
Measurements are essentially always wrong - the real question is, are
they off by a little, or off by a lot? And now I'll move on.
