Another query to the list
Can any of you recommend a good quality proofing paper for printing on our
company¹s 3 Xerox Phaser 7760 laser printers?
We have a Epson 9800/ORIS ColorTuner setup that we do our final ISOCoated v2
Certified proofs with but I¹m looking for a laser based paper for interim
proofing on the Phasers.
Using the PhaserMatch software for Calibration and DeviceLinks I¹m able to
get a fairly consistent (for a laser printer) of AVG (2.5-3 dE2000), MAX (4
dE2000), Primary (3.5-4 dE2000), but the PAPER WHITE is always greater than
>3 dE2000 because of the paper white of the current laser paper we are
using from Mohawk.
Up to this point I¹ve been using these tolerances primarily for checking for
drift on the Phasers and the need to recalibrate/reprofile once they surpass
these dE thresholds, and not for the purpose of using these proofs to
certify.
A laser paper that sits closer to the Lab values of the ISO coated #1 paper
(95.0, 0.0, -2.0) would be the ideal, correct?
I could only find a couple of vendors making laser type papers specifically
for proofing:
EFI SemiMatte 105SM (Lab value 93.0, 1.0, -1.7)
EFI SemiMatte 130SM (Lab value 93.5, 1.0, -1.3)
OKI Bright White Proofing Paper (No Lab values)
Would finding a laser paper (such as HP¹s Presentation Laser Paper) with a
Brightness rating of 95% be the same (or similar) to a ISO Coated #1 paper?
