I don't believe that it will be necessary to use the press' ICC-
profile as an
intermediate conversion step – I just think that it could reduce the
picture's

reproduced
correctly in the lamination gamut. Instead I think the best idea
would be to convert directly to the
laminate-profile, trying to keep the original picture's colours
unchanged as
far as possible (our results showed that it appears that some parts
of the
gamut actually gets slightly widened post (glossy) lamination, when
viewed in
the a*–b*-plane – see diagram on p. 17 in the report).
Unless I'm missing something, I think the original intent was to end
up with a "GRACoL Coated1" look to the final result. In that case,
you'd convert from RGB to GRACoL C1 and then convert to the laminated
profile since that is the final "destination"......you'd then take
this result and convert to the UN-laminated profile and proof BOTH
results.
If the image is already GRACoL C1 CMYK, then simply assign GRACoL C1
and convert to the laminated and then un-laminated profiles....but
just make sure the pressroom only sees the UN-lam proof.
