Hi Marco,
There is one other point. A glossy screen will, if all other things are
equal, give you denser blacks as a rule. That is, once you adjust it for
no reflections.

That would have been a nice thing to have, even as just an option.
I have no proof to back this, but I have a feeling that the glossy screen was the result of a decision on the part of Apple based purely on design -- to make the "shiny" monitor more appealing to the average user (who is likely to be uneducated on what is best for optimal results in professional imaging).
