At times, they may specify AdobeRGB. But when nothing else is specified, I
believe that they are referring to NTSC, which is associated with the
broadcasting standard for North America and a few other countries.
I'm not an expert on the NTSC color space, so here is the Wikipedia entry

If you are interested in taking a look, I have graphed for you (in 3D using
ColorThink Pro) the gamut of AdobeRGB and compared it to that of the NTSC
(1953) ICC profile that comes with Adobe CS. I made a small QuickTime movie
of the 3D graph that you can download here:

The white wireframe represents the NTSC profile; the colored solid is the
AdobeRGB color space. As you see, this NTSC profile produces a gamut that is
wider than AdobeRGB on all sides except in the saturated peak region of the
blue-purples.
