It's been a few weeks since so many of you helped me with this issue.
Now that the holidays are over I want to share the solution that I found,
hopefully someone else will find it useful.
First up, the reply I received from X-Rite technical support:
*************************************
Hello Martin,
our R&D team had a look into the crash log file you did send to us. They
could clearly find out, that the issue is not related to the i1Match SDK or
application. It is a general issue with the permission rights on the MacOS
10. The R&D team recommended to delete i1Match, repair the permissions on
the system and then install i1Match again.
I know, that you did already run a permission repair routine several times.
Maybe a re-installation of the i1Match software after it is the key to the
solution.
A personal recommendation is also deleting all existing i1Match Preferences
from the user-specific Library/Preferences folder, just as a prophylactic
step, before reinstallation of i1Match. On my system I found the following
Preferences Files (it might be that not all of them are present at your system):
- ch.gretagmacbeth.i1.EyeOneMatch.plist
- EyeOne Match (file)
- EyeOneMatch (folder)
- EyeOneMatchMonDiagnostics.txt
- EyeOneMatchSIDiagnostics.txt
- LogoCalibrationMoniCalibration
Let me know, if these hints help.
*************************************
This supports what some of you suggested: permissions were the problem. From
then on, here is what I did:
1)
I deleted all the files mentioned in the X-Rite post and re-repaired
permissions.
Result: no change.
2) Archive and Install.
Result: no change
3) Backup hard drive to 2 different firewire drives, Erase and Install,
apply all OS X 10.5 updates, then run EyeOne Match.
Result: EyeOne Match 3.6.2 works fine.
4) Application data and preferences which I needed from the old iBook were
manually copied to the new MBP.
Best wishes to you all for the year ahead.
