The Barbiery xy100 table has a calibration routine based on BCRA tiles.
Never seen any instrument built like that. As long as I have a set of
traceable calibrated reflectance values for my tiles, I can re-calibrate the
instrument to my heart content and always be assured of good repeatability.
It's like "Printer re-calibrate" in the GMG RIP, it always bring the proofer
back to the same standard. I don't think it's a bad idea.
What the instrument then reads on substrates *other* than the tiles is "part
of the game". What is the alternative, in your opinion?
Best / Roger
