Hi all,

Regarding Peter's request for advice on a plasma TV, I suggest a projector is a better option.

At Cal Poly we bought two big plasma displays (brand available on request), and put them on the walls. They have a tremendous color shift when you view them from any angle other than straight. If you put a blue dot in the center and walk 12 feet to the left, the blue dot looks violet.

Also, getting a Mac to sync correctly and not result in a weird distortion is difficult. I can do it, but I always end up cursing and pounding my fist on the table.

And, third, we just don't like them.

By contrast, we bought three Epson classroom projectors (model numbers can be provided on request), and we installed them on the ceilings of our classrooms.

They are FABULOUS!!!

Bright, clean, crisp, high-res (I can sync to 1152 px x 1024), and they are so bright that I leave the lights on in the classroom except when I am talking about very specific details in the shadows.

AND... I have profiled two of them using my Color Munki. Wonderful. Fabulous. Gorgeous.

Can't beat them, as far as I am concerned.

And, the best part is that they are always there, ready to go. I plug- in and turn on, and, well, you're from Santa Cruz, you know the rest.

Best wishes,

Brian P. Lawler

Dear List members,

I am looking for a large-screen (58" to 65") plasma display to drive
from a iMac using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Since it will
be used in an instructional setting to teach Photoshop, it is
essential that I can calibrate it and profile it. I'll probably be
using an EyeOne Beamer for this.

Any recommendations?
