Okay. It seems we're looking for two different things. You're looking for a representation of the image as it is. I'm trying to see how the image will look when output. I want to see the clipping and the compression of the tonal range.

You kill me! You color science guys always feel compelled to say things like "given a properly formed display profile...". Sometimes that strikes me like saying, "Your gas mileage will be X, given that you're driving on round - not square - wheels." But, you know, that may only be funny to me and the other voices in my head.
