well ... there is already ookala-mcf: <http://sourceforge.net/

This is interesting... and not likely that most of us would stumble
across it, given that there's no mention of the DreamColor Display in
the SourceForge description, and it's in beta with one developer and
has only had 135 downloads since it was released last December.
Without you pointing me directly to it, I'd have never considered
looking at the source code. I guess you need inside information. ;-)
There is no descriptive info given, but from the source I see:
"Ookala Modular Calibration Framework Copyright (c) 2008 Hewlett-
Packard Development Company, L.P." So it looks like HP released all
of this code.
Within the code, there are references to the HP DreamColor Display
and an X-Rite Chroma5 sensor example. Does this imply that HP has no
plans to market a Linux calibration / profiling package, yet sees a
substantial market for the monitor on this platform and wants to get
a calibration / profiling app out there?
Also, the Chroma5 example states:
Chroma5 support for X-Rite Chroma5 sensor requires:
+ X-Rite SequelLinuxSDK7_1_0 (version 7.1.0 or later)
Is there adequate information in this SDK for other developers to
write apps for other platforms, or does the SDK involve distribution
of a library that is not portable? Are the equivalent SDKs for other
platforms available? The rest of the code, at a glance, seems
adequate to work with the DreamColor.
And to Karl Koch, are there any plans now to update BasICColor
Display to handle the DreamColor (or is it too unlike other monitors
to make it worth the development effort)?
Thanks for the link, Mr. Karcher.
