Is it the SpyderCube the same product as the basICCaliCube?
Here is a list of basic differences:
The CaliCube was built from existing sheetstock (though it was sheet
stock with good spectral neutrality)
The CaliCube alternated Black, White, and Gray faces, so it was
necessary to rotate it, and detemine what face you needed facing what
light source, and take multiple shots of it.
The CaliCube gray was not 18% (it was an L* of about 60, instead of 50)
The CaliCube was 2 inches square (or cubed, actually).
The SpyderCube is smaller (1.5 inches), so at less than half the
volume its a bit easier to fit in a pocket or bag.
The SpyderCube is even more spectrally neutral than its predecessor.
The SpyderCube has split gray/white faces on both sides of the black
trap face, so no rotation or predetermining of the primary lightsource
is needed; one shot will do it.
The SpyderCube has a tripod mount on the bottom.
The SpyderCube costs less than the CaliCube did (the miracles of mass
production...)
I suspect, if you liked the CaliCube, you'll love the SpyderCube...
