Yes that is evident. I never said otherwise. There is a huge difference
between the first generation Z and the Z3200 with the HP internal profiler.
APS certainly is Gretag and or X-Rite. Depending on where you place the
date of their merger The earlier version is Profile Maker , the later for
the 3200 using Monaco Profiler, which you should know too.
The naming of the HP internal profiler has and is confusing, no one at HP
could keep it straight was it Easy ( first versions of the 3100 interface,
or now HP Utility, or Color Center> would have meant something if it was
decided to have a clear strategy. Dumping Dream Color on top of this doesn't
make for a memorable naming strategy either IMO.
What was an advantage with the earlier Profile Maker tabled profiles with
Logo LUTs you could simply drag and drop the profile into Profile Maker and
recreate the profile anyway you like for added controls based on spectral
readings from the Embedded Spectro. I don't have the license for Monaco so
cannot say if you can do this now with Monaco tabled profiles from APS for
the 3200. For example take a Z3100 APS profile and drop it into Profile
Maker 5 and change the white point calculation/adaptation, or CMYK black
start and width. A very handy way of doing things. It is an advantage over
Epson with their spectro option currently as it is a bit more work to use
the data ina a way that is as easy.
BTW for those interested, the Z3200 exports CGATS formatted readings from
the printer so you can make your own profiles in whichever program you like
or have. Very interesting for those wanted to play and experiment.
