I posted about this here in November 2007. Profiles that we made with the i1 Pro were inferior to those made using a DTP94 on both our Quato and Apple screens when using iColor Display software.
Shadows were crunchy and colour banded - more obviously on the dumb panels. You could easily tell which device had been used by looking at the gray balance part of the UGRA test. The values of the two patches immediately above black were terrible every time the i1 Pro was used.
Two years later and I still wouldn't choose the i1 Pro over the DTP94.
