No argument from me on that... I definitely feel a little like I'm chasing a moving target (or perhaps I'm on a snipe hunt??!?) but I think it's worth the time to experiement anyway since I have the basic tools (and the intrigue), and the printshop is just down the hall.
If nothing else it's a great learning process...
In regards to using a standard profile / process target, that's what we've done in the past with results that were not always great. Our runs are so short (and thus the makereadies even shorter) and I can't say we print rigidly to any specific standards. We are one of those so-called "pleasing color" shops, it's just the nature of what we do here: CD manufacturing and packaging in typical quantities of 1k or less.
We just took delivery of two digital presses, at this point to handle our smaller orders and self-serve customers, but eventually I suspect we'll be sending more and more of our regular work to the Indigo rather than the Komori. Will the offset press be retired in favor of digital? Remains to be seen... but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Oh, I believe you alright... and if you think that's tricky, you should see all the variables involved full-color silkscreen printing on the discs!

Terry's offer and advice have been very kind (thank you so much Terry!) and I just might... the new target is already plated and ready to go, so I think I'll go through with this and see what the results are. Can't hurt...
